What is a Compassionate Ministry Center?

Nazarene Compassionate Ministries USA/Canada partners with Nazarene interests to facilitate ministries which address the temporal as well as the spiritual needs of the economically disadvantaged. A Compassionate Ministry Center (CMC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to meeting the needs of the under-resourced in the community. These organizations may be affiliated with a local church.

 

 

 

There are approximately 180 Compassionate Ministry Centers scattered across the United States and Canada, with annual budgets ranging in size from $5,000 to over $4 million. They provide services to their communities in a number of areas, including:

 

 

  • Addiction Services

     

  • Community Development

     

  • Counseling and Support Groups

     

  • Education and Job Training

     

  • ESL

     

  • Financial Assistance

     

  • Food and Clothing Distribution

     

  • Health Care

     

  • Immigration and Refugee Services

     

  • Justice and Advocacy

     

  • Crisis Pregnancy and Maternity Services

     

  • Homeless Shelters and Transitional Housing

     

  • Help for Children/Youth

     

  • Prison Ministry and Reentry

     

  • Aid to those suffering from HIV/AIDS

     

 

 

These nonprofit ministry centers provide irreplacable, loving support to the poor and suffering in their communities. They help share the love of Christ to the world in a tangible, sacrificial way. Your church ministry or committed group can incorporate as a nonprofit and become a Compassionate Ministry Center.
